by Shane Henson — May 24, 2013—After successfully working to support the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) federal high-performance buildings programs, the Cadmus Group Inc. has been awarded a new five-year contract with the GSA to guide the performance improvements for 140 properties within the GSA portfolio, the company recently announced.
According to Cadmus, which will be working with its technology partner SAIC, the performance improvements it is overseeing will lead to lower annual operation costs and improved occupant satisfaction among GSA properties. The company also expects to help the properties to achieve compliance with the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Building, as well as the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Volume Certification program.
Cadmus, a technical and strategic consultancy with projects across the world, used its proprietary eVOL platform to scale high-performance practices across GSA’s building portfolio, which reduces effort by more than 50 percent compared to single-building certifications, the company says. eVOL organizes and streamlines all necessary data collection, benchmarking, education and training, support documentation, and quality control activities. The tool, which can be customized to meet unique user requirements, includes all required policies, procedures, and support resources on a single, centralized Web-based environment, as well as building-specific compliance-tracking scorecards for both the federal Guiding Principles and LEED.
“Cadmus is thrilled to continue to support GSA on this important program,” said Cadmus President and CEO Ian Kline. “This contract offers a great example of our ability to provide a cost-saving, innovative solution to a client’s complex challenge.”
