Capita Symonds to provide building management services at Kettering General Hospital

by Rebecca Walker — October 25, 2010—Capita Symonds has been appointed by Interserve to provide building management services at Kettering General Hospital, a general hospital serving about 300,000 people in the U.K.’s North Northamptonshire.

The company will provide building services engineering and BREEAM, energy and sustainability consultancy services on the new pediatrics, acute and critical care extension at the hospital.

The facilities include an intensive care unit with 16 beds and two isolation rooms, and an integrated pediatric unit with a total of 32 beds including surgical and medical wards, a pediatric assessment unit and high-dependency facilities.

The Capita Symonds team have designed a raft of sustainable features designed to achieve a BREEAM `Excellent` rating, including air source heat pumps that will provide low carbon heating and cooling, and a 150kW woodchip Biomass boiler which will generate carbon-neutral energy.
