by Shane Henson — October 10, 2012—Chicago Metallic Corporation, a provider of architectural building products and services such as suspension systems for acoustical ceilings and decorative metal ceiling products for commercial, institutional, and industrial building markets worldwide, recently launched its EuroStone sustainable acoustical ceiling panels.

The panels provide sound absorption and decades-long ceiling life in areas requiring resistance to moisture, mold and bacteria, says Chicago Metallic. Eurostone offers designers a wide range of attractive finish options, including fine, medium and heavy-textured surfaces, as well as a range of molded pattern designs. Eurostone is available in 24″ x 24″ sizes for installation into industry standard 15/16″ and 9/16″ ceiling suspension.

In support of indoor environmental quality, EuroStone panels are made from an inorganic blend of volcanic stone and inorganic binders. According to Chicago Metallic, they contain no volatile organic compounds, surface coatings or biocides. EuroStone panels are composed of nonhazardous and nonfibrous materials. The panels’ inherent properties ensure they will not warp or sag in high-temperature and humidity environments, asserts the company. They are also fire-resistant and will not burn, smoke or contribute fuel to a fire or high-temperate condition.

EuroStone ceiling panels have already been used in many high-performance buildings, says Chicago Metallic. In addition to the company’s own corporate headquarters, these include:

  • Chicago’s DePaul University’s Ray Meyer Center
  • University of South Carolina’s Williams-Brice Stadium
  • Miami Dolphins’ Sun Life Stadium
  • Mexico City’s Grupo Imagen office building
  • University of Texas’ Health Science Center
  • Houston Astros’ Minute Maid Park
  • Texas’ Frisco Conference Center
