by jbs021409e3 — February 16, 2009—The second annual Low Carbon Performance Awards have been announced, rewarding the people, projects and campaigns working towards a more sustainable built environment in the UK.
Organized by the UK’s Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the event celebrated the achievements of participants of the 100 Hours of Carbon Clean Up campaign, and the work of CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessors (LCEAs) and Low Carbon Consultants.
Faber Maunsell collected the “New Build Project of the Year” award for their work on Lion House in Alnwick. The building is a flagship ultra low-emissions development that is designed to achieve exemplary standards of sustainability and environmental performance. “LCEA: DEC of the Year” went to Transport for London, while i-prophets energy services took two trophies home for “Innovation of the Year” and “LCEA: EPC of the Year.”
100 Hours Campaign participants Simons Design won “Best Carbon Saving Programme,” with the SME award going to BDP Belfast. The trophy for “Champion of Carbon Saving Champions” went to Quinten Babcock, Environmental Manager of the Sustainable Buildings Team at Transport for London Group Property & Facilities.
