CIBSE members to have free access to building, lighting journals

by jbs021909 a3 — February 25, 2009—Members of the UK’s Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) can now benefit from free online access to the Building Services Engineering Research and Technology Journal (BSER&T), while SLL members can view copies of the Lighting, Research & Technology Journal (LR&T).

Online access to the journals will provide members with a valuable resource of in-depth knowledge and information, enabling them to access the full archive of each journal–40 years of publications for LR&T and 30 years for BSER&T.

BSER&T publishes high quality original research relevant to today’s built environment. It covers the full range of energy and environmental services in buildings, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical services, and water supply.

LR&T publishes papers on all aspects of the subject of light and lighting ranging from the human response to light, to all aspects of the science of light generation, light control, and measurement.

According to CIBSE President John Swaffield, “Building Services Engineering in its widest definition is at the forefront of our society’s efforts to contain the effects of climate change. It is essential that relevant research that will aid the development of mitigation strategies is fully disseminated through refereed journal publications, thereby providing both information and content validation.”

Access to both journals is available online from the Members’ Area on the CIBSE Web site.
