by Rebecca Walker — February 2, 2009—Clark Pacific is completing its third month of the construction on an eight-level, 3,350-space, parking structure and Quick Turn Around facility for the Mineta San Jose International Airport to house and support its rental car companies and provide public parking.
Erection of the $270 million, 1.8 million square foot project began in late October and is scheduled for completion in July 2010.
The design/build-precast project built by Clark Pacific offers cost-effective and fast construction along with sustainable environmental features. General contractor Hensel Phelps Construction Co., managed the Clark Pacific design-build team. Clark Pacific also worked with parking designer Watry Design Inc., in the massive parking project. Hensel Phelps began work on the site preparation and foundations in January 2008.
By utilizing precast construction methodology, the City of San Jose will be able to begin using the facility five to six months sooner than if poured in place construction had been used, says the company.
