CodeGreen Solutions certifies six New York buildings for LEED-EB

by Rebecca Walker — August 19, 2009—In 2009, CodeGreen Solutions has successfully certified six buildings in New York under the LEED for Existing Buildings program (LEED-EB). Among the projects certified are: SL Green’s 100 Park Avenue, Rockefeller Groups’ 1221 Avenue of the Americas, Beacon Capital Partners’ 1211 Avenue of the Americas, Mutual of America’s 320 Park Avenue, as well as 1285 Avenue of the Americas and 135 West 50th Street.

It is estimated that 70 percent of existing buildings in the U.S. will still be in active use in 2050. These LEED-EB certified buildings are at the forefront of sustainability, acting on the important role placed upon the existing building stock across the nation to demonstrate environmental stewardship and lower carbon emissions.

CodeGreen is actively greening a portfolio of more than 60 million square feet of property throughout the country, and has managed the successful LEED certification of over 8.5 million square feet in New York City alone. The company says it has certified the most Existing Building projects in New York City, the largest LEED-EB: O&M certified project in the country, and the largest LEED-EB certified property in New York State. It is also assisting building owners to maximize building efficiency by analyzing alternative energy solutions such as cogeneration plants and solar panel installations.
