by Shane Henson — October 22, 2012—Constellation, a competitive supplier of power, natural gas, renewable energy and energy management products across the United States, was tapped to boost energy efficiency within The DoubleTree Alsip, Hilton Lisle/Naperville and Hilton Northbrook hotels through implementing lighting efficiency and conservation measures.
The efficiency upgrades were implemented as part of an electricity supply contract with Constellation through its Efficiency Made Easy product, and are expected to collectively reduce energy use by more than 35 percent annually at the Hilton-brand hotels.
According to Constellation, Efficiency Made Easy allows the company’s business customers to implement energy-efficiency upgrades at their facilities with no up-front capital expenditure. Constellation funds and installs the upgrades as part of a short-term energy supply contract with the customer. In most cases, customers realize an immediate savings on energy costs from the installation of efficiency measures, the company says.
“Constellation’s expertise helped us to become more efficient all around and involved no up-front costs to the hotels. Most importantly, we were able to do this in a way that was seamless to our guests,” said Richard Brink, general manager of Hilton Lisle/Naperville.
The hotels were also able to achieve additional energy cost savings through gas supply purchases and participation in demand response programs with Constellation.
