Contractor association recognizes projects, partnerships

by Jbs032410 d3 — March 26, 2010—The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) recently announced the winners of the 2010 Aon Build America Awards, an annual ranking of the nation’s most significant construction projects, and the winners of the 2010 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Awards, which reward and encourage clear communication and strong coordination among builders.

The 2010 Aon Build America Award winners are:

  • Construction Management New and Grand Award winner: Linbeck Group of Houston, Texas, for its work building the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Texas;

  • Texas Division of McCarthy Building Companies for construction of the AT&T Performance Arts Center Wyly Theatre in Dallas, Texas;

  • Pepper Construction Group of Chicago for converting Chicago’s Power House building into the Charles H. Shaw Technology & Learning Center;

  • Jans Corporation of Sioux Falls, S.D., for building the Sioux Falls Seminary;

  • Walsh Brothers Inc. of Boston, Mass., for renovating the Grand Dome of MIT’s Building 10; and

  • BSI Constructors Inc. of St. Louis, Mo., for building that city’s new Citygarden complex.

The 2010 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award winners are:

  • Granite Construction of Arizona for its work installing new sewer systems under a busy road on the Silverbell Road Sanitary Interceptor Project near Tucson, Ariz.;

  • McCarthy Building Companies of Newport Beach for its work building a new patient care tower for Mission Hospital; and

  • Kiewit and Tempe of Omaha, Neb. and Sundt Construction of Arizona for the rehabilitation of I-10 in Tucson, Ariz.
