by Shane Henson — April 24, 2013—Businesses that have demonstrated best-in-class practices in advancing corporate real estate (CRE) thought leadership were recently recognized for their efforts by CoreNet Global as the winners of the organization’s 2013 Global Awards.
Senior leaders judged more than 60 companies/organizations across the contest’s three awards categories. The winners were:
- 2013 CoreNet Global Industry Excellence Award: Fidelity Investments for its work on next-generation data centers. Fidelity’s Centercore data center is an innovative blend of traditional and modular designs that combines flexibility, resiliency, and on-demand capacity with the look and feel of a traditional data center, says CoreNet Global.
- Economic Development Leadership Award for Major Deals and Projects: The Brick City Development Corporation (BCDC) and Panasonic for their efforts to spur economic development, investment and employment in downtown Newark, New Jersey.
- Economic Development Award for Leadership and Innovation: The San Francisco Center for Economic Development for its project on meeting the challenges of limited space in that metropolitan area.
- Sustainable Leadership Award: Google for its Healthy Materials Program. Google piloted a program to encourage manufacturer transparency and to screen out potentially harmful chemicals in commonly used building materials.
Five other organizations and projects also received special commendations. Phase 1 winners from the three award competitions were elevated to compete July 24-25 at Emory University in Atlanta for the 2013 H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator’s Award, sponsored by Gensler. There are eight other finalists for the The Global Innovator’s Award, for which the winner will be announced in October at the CoreNet Global Summit in Las Vegas.
