by Brianna Crandall — February 25, 2015—A new project may draw the interest of facilities managers and owners who are looking for a way to make the rolling door on their facility stand out as a brand advertiser or work of art, whether it is for a retail storefront, stadium/concession stand, fire door or interior opening such as a counter shutter or meeting room, or in an educational facility, distribution facility or high-end hotel.
Cornell Iron Works and The Cookson Company, both brands of CIW Enterprises, recently manufactured a custom insulated rolling door with powder coated graphics for Graveyard Carz, a reality television show centered on the restoration of wrecked muscle cars.
Graveyard Carz is moving its operations to a new location in 2015. Aesthetics and reliability were key when Graveyard Carz owner Mark Worman was selecting an insulated door for the new shop. “Cornell-Cookson had installed a rolling door for us years ago. We use it all the time and it’s held up really well over the years. When planning for our new facility, calling Cornell-Cookson again made perfect sense,” stated Worman.
The new door’s imagery was custom designed by Dan Bernard and features three vibrantly colored Mopar cars, along with the Graveyard Carz, Cornell and Cookson logos. Interior Technology, the local Cookson dealer, installed the powder coated door.
“We are thrilled with how this door looks. The level of detail that’s been captured so clearly on this large door is incredible. It’s exceeded our expectations by far and will definitely do its job as a focal point in our new building,” stated Worman. The installation of the doors will make an appearance during Season 4 of the series later this year.
Cornell and Cookson are reportedly the first in the coiling door industry to powder coat patterns or custom designs onto coiling steel doors. This process provides flexibility to incorporate coiling doors as part of the building design, using patterns like wood grain, brick, marble or custom imagery.
