by Brianna Crandall — February 6, 2015—Media and investment advisory company Corporate Knights has released its 2015 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations Index. The annual list uses quantitative methodology to rank global corporations on a variety of sustainability metrics including overall sustainability disclosure rates and penalties for sustainability related violations.
Global cleaning industry trade association ISSA noted that five of its members or affiliated companies were named to the list: Colgate-Palmolive Co.; Ecolab, Inc.; Henkel, parent company of Dial Professional; Johnson Controls, Inc.; and Novozymes Biologicals, Inc.
Also of note, three companies from Singapore ranked in the Global 100 in the Real Estate Management and Development category: #4 Keppel Land, #34 City Developments, and #84 CapitaLand.
According to an article in GreenBiz, “the Corporate Knights report takes a broad view of sustainability—including environmental conservation metrics along with labor and economic inequality issues.” Variables considered in the rankings include “revenue generated per unit of energy consumed, water conservation efforts, work time lost to injury, and the ratio of CEO pay to that of a company’s average worker.”
Kudos to all the facilities/property/real estate management and related professionals who helped their companies make the list.
The complete list and an explanation of the list’s methodology are available on the Corporate Knights magazine Web site.
