Have you always wanted to add a skylight but were scared off by high costs and construction limitations? See this new virtual skylight from Cree

by Brianna Crandall — May 24, 2019 — Cree Lighting, an Ideal Industries company, has just announced the availability of the architectural-grade Cadiant dynamic skylight, a luminaire engineered to recreate the experience of being under a natural sky with remarkable realism.

Available to order starting in August 2019 and currently on display this week at LIGHTFAIR International 2019 in Philadelphia, the Cadiant dynamic skylight is designed to create the sensation of natural sunlight and a blue sky in interior spaces via a virtual skylight experience.

Cadiant uses advanced lighting controls in combination with multi-dimensional LED (light-emitting diode) panels and color-changing technology to simulate the natural dawn-to-dusk, east-to-west arc of the sun, providing a valuable sensory connection to the outdoors for people working in spaces without access to natural daylight.

Kathryn Caspar, vice president, Indoor Product Marketing, Cree Lighting, remarked:

Since we first introduced the Cadiant concept, it has been met with enthusiasm from across the industry. Cadiant is a remarkable breakthrough lighting experience that enhances architectural designs with visual impact and dramatic scene-setting, allowing people to feel a real connection to the outdoors.

The Cadiant dynamic skylight is a local standalone system that uses SmartCast Technology advanced lighting controls to interact and connect with other fixtures in a space, creating an overall scene that enhances the design of the space. An intuitive SmartCast wall-mounted touchscreen provides easy control over multiple Cadiant dynamic skylights with both automatic presets and manual control for a complete lighting experience that is designed solely for the people in the space.

For architects, lighting designers and specifiers seeking the visual impact and natural benefits of a real skylight — but without the associated high costs or construction limitations — the Cadiant experience can be a stimulating, dynamic lighting solution that is simple to specify for both new construction and retrofits, bringing the outdoors in to any interior space.
