Cuyahoga Community College first to go live on Accruent’s cloud-based IWMS system

by Shane Henson — November 15, 2013— Accruent, a provider of real estate and facilities management solutions around the world, announced earlier this week that Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) is the first customer to go live on the all-new, cloud-based version of its renowned FAMIS Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) for higher education institutions.

FAMIS is designed to provide institutions with the facilities management solutions they need to manage the complete facilities lifecycle—from real estate acquisitions to project management, operations, maintenance, facilities management, asset management, inventory control and space management.

Tri-C, the largest community college in Ohio, has been a FAMIS customer since 2004. In October 2012, Blair Bosworth, Tri-C’s executive director of plant operations, was approached by Accruent with a proposal to partner to become the first FAMIS customer to migrate to its newer system.

“We were impressed by the universal browser-based platform and sleek, intuitive user interface of the new FAMIS. We were confident it would relieve us from never-ending support challenges associated with the changing combinations of operating systems, database engines and browser versions in our in-house environment, as well as provide immediate efficiency benefits,” Bosworth said. “We decided to move as early as possible and take the opportunity to migrate to a cloud-based solution. We have been using the new FAMIS Maintenance Management system since July, and Accruent has been there every step of the way to make our implementation a success.”

The new IWMS system combines the purpose-built higher education functionality of the existing FAMIS system with a proven cloud-based technology platform that is already supporting facility management customers in other industries. The combination of an established functional design and a proven technology platform allowed Accruent to create a completely new, yet fully featured solution for higher education in record time, the company says.

Since 1995, Accruent has helped real estate and facilities leaders deliver long-term, best-in-class operational and financial performance through purpose-built industry suites. Accruent’s six product brands, Accruent, FAMIS, Siterra, 360Facility, Evoco, and Expesite, are reportedly used by more than 1,200 leading organizations, including nearly 45% of the Top 100 Retailers, 20% of the Fortune 500, 100 leading universities, the Top 4 U.S. Wireless Carriers, and leading service providers managing more than 1.5 billion square feet of property.
