Deloitte’s 80-year-old U.S. headquarters transforms to next-gen workplace, earns LEED Gold

by Brianna Crandall — April 15, 2013—Global professional services provider Deloitte’s 80-year-old U.S. headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York was awarded LEED Gold for Commercial Interiors, setting an example for similar older facilities with its transformation into an environmentally friendly, next-generation workplace.

Certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program was a critical component to Deloitte’s corporate responsibility goals when moving into its new headquarters at the iconic 30 Rockefeller Plaza building, part of the Rockefeller Center complex in Midtown Manhattan, in August 2012. The newly renovated, eco-friendly office space includes benefits such as lower operating costs and a reduced carbon footprint.

Deloitte designed its headquarters as a next-generation, collaborative and modern workplace, bringing to life the organization’s commitment to cutting-edge technology, open and flexible work settings, and conference and training facilities.

With the addition of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Deloitte now has a total of 16 LEED-certified offices, encompassing 1.8 million square feet of real estate.

“The certification of 30 Rockefeller Plaza further highlights our ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility through the implementation of environmentally sound design elements, delivered in a building never designed with such sustainability in mind,” said Mary Ellen Rodgers, National Managing Partner, Workplace Services, Deloitte LLP.
