by Shane Henson — February 22, 2012—Designtex, a company that strives to provide innovative surfaces for a wide variety of buildings, looked to nature for inspiration when designing its newest wallcovering collection, the Transitions collection.
According the company’s designers, the Transition collection takes a closer look at the physical transitions in nature. Providing an inspiring design direction in a RECORE substrate, the four new patterns and textures offered in the collection maintain the same performance characteristics as type II vinyl and may account for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits.
The Transitions collection includes:
- Efflorescence 6786:This organic and free-flowing pattern captures the delicate stage of a blossoming flower. Efflorescence emphasizes verticality through tonal and naively drawn branch motifs. A layered effect will provide added depth to wall applications. Efflorescence is available in 11 colorways.
- Diffuse 6787:A fluid design, Diffuse creates movement by pairing clusters of thin lines that mirror each other. Available in a wide range of colors from classic neutrals to rustic hues, Diffuse is an ideal choice to add a little texture to wall applications. Diffuse is available in 18 colorways.
- Transpire 6788:Transpire’s simple design was inspired by the irregularities of water vapor. Tiny droplets depict different scales and movements as they cascade throughout the pattern. Transpire is available in 13 colorways.
- Vapour 6789:Tiny overlapping and intertwining circles create an intricate design that illustrates particles of moisture suspended in the air. Placed against a variegated background, Vapour has many dimensional qualities. Vapour is available in 11 colorways.
Use of RECORE, with its high percentage of post-consumer recycled content, is a smart environmental strategy when pursuing building certification, says Designtex. Eco-friendly features include:
- Can contribute to the LEED Materials and Resource Credit for Recycled Content
- Recyclable/take back program
- Durable with a long life cycle
- Safety and fire protection
- Low VOC (volatile organic compounds) emitting
- Products meet or exceed ACT (Association for Contract Textiles) performance standards
- Scrubbable/washable
- Class “A” fire rating
- Type II durability
- Ten-year performance warranty
