DESSO launches carpet said to clean indoor air

by Rebecca Walker — July 2, 2010—International carpet manufacturer DESSO has introduced a carpet said to clean indoor air, providing valuable relief to the world’s estimated 300 million asthma sufferers, who are most at risk from poor indoor air quality, according to the company.

The new carpet from DESSO, called AirMaster, is aimed mainly at offices, hospitals, schools and other public buildings, and will provide important health benefits that other flooring solutions cannot match.

The new carpet significantly reduces the amount of dust and particulate matter floating in the air. Independent tests have confirmed that AirMaster is eight times more effective in capturing and retaining fine dust than hard flooring, and four times more effective than standard carpeting, according to DESSO.

The carpet works by safely trapping and immobilizing potentially harmful allergy-producing particles.

DESSO is a leading manufacturer of high quality carpet tiles and broadloom carpets and has been in operation for almost 80 years. It has factories in The Netherlands and Belgium and exports worldwide.
