DeWALT recalls defective battery chargers

DeWALT Industrial Tool Co. is recalling around 825,000 model DW9116 battery chargers in voluntary cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The chargers are for 9.6- to 18-volt batteries used in DeWALT cordless tools. Metal clips inside the chargers may come loose and push through the vents, possibly giving the user an electrical shock. The black chargers have date codes from 9927EM through 9952EM and 0001EM through 0031EM, but those with a green or yellow dot sticker near the code have already been repaired. To locate the nearest DeWALT or Black & Decker service center for a free repair, call DeWALT at 888/388-3273.
