by Brianna Crandall — May 7, 2014—Things are looking up for businesses that want to make significantly better use of their space, thanks to DIRTT Environmental Solutions’ latest innovation.

The company, a leading technology-driven manufacturer of highly customized, prefabricated modular interiors, has built a prototype timber-frame mezzanine that incorporates DIRTT’s walls, floors, power, data and millwork solutions. While it was designed as part of DIRTT’s initial steps toward the residential market, commercial, healthcare and educational clients will benefit in the meantime.

DIRTT’s mezzanine significantly increases the amount of usable office space in high-ceiling buildings such as warehouses and factories. The centuries-old post-and-beam wood design, combined with the design and manufacturing precision delivered by DIRTT’s proprietary ICE software, lets clients create engaging, unique workspaces combining the warmth of wood with integrated technology, writeable surfaces and other 21st century amenities.

“People are looking for new ways to better use their spaces and build much more creative working environments,” says CEO Mogens Smed. “But the only way this can work, on the basis of cost, speed, quality and sustainability, is through factory-produced custom prefabricated solutions. That is precisely what DIRTT provides.”

DIRTT Environmental Solutions (Doing It Right This Time) uses its proprietary three-dimensional (3D) software to design, manufacture and install fully customized prefab interiors. Customers in the corporate, government, education and healthcare sectors are said to benefit from DIRTT’s precise design and costing; rapid lead times with high levels of customization and flexibility; and faster, cleaner construction. DIRTT manufacturing facilities are located in Phoenix, Savannah, Kelowna and Calgary, and the company’s teams support more than 100 Distribution Partners throughout North America, the Middle East and Asia.
