by Shane Henson — March 13, 2013—Flexible ductwork is commonly used in the built environment to make the final connections in ventilation and air conditioning systems, but system designers, facilities managers, technicians and others may not be clear about the statutory requirements, product standards, and technical guidance relating to flexible ductwork.
The U.K.-based Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) hopes to remedy this through its recently released Flexible Ductwork: A Guide to Specification, Procurement, Installation and Maintenance publication.
According to BSRIA, the guide focuses on metallic and non-metallic flexible ductwork in insulated and uninsulated forms only. It aims to help improve the performance of buildings by providing guidance about the legislation, product standards, specifications, installation practices and maintenance requirements relating to flexible ductwork.
