Eagle Eye Networks survey: 68% of businesses to expand video surveillance for operations improvement

by Brianna Crandall — July 9, 2014—Eagle Eye Networks recently announced the availability of its first annual video surveillance report. This year’s report covers the results of multiple 250-500 respondent surveys of video surveillance and information technology (IT) professionals from late 2013 to April 2014. The survey topics spanned targeted use of video surveillance systems, cloud video surveillance, IT’s role, and view of video surveillance system vulnerability.

“More than two-thirds of companies now plan to expand their use of video surveillance systems beyond security and into operations improvement,” said Dean Drako, President and CEO at Eagle Eye Networks. “Additionally, there is a deepening involvement of their IT personnel in many aspects of video surveillance activities.”

The top reasons respondents cited for planning to expand camera use were “improving sales or customer service” (51%); and “improving general employee productivity” (44%); “analyzing customer behavior/patterns” (32%); “reducing injury risk” (30%); and “get compliance with process or work hours” (17%). Respondents were allowed to select two choices.
