by Brianna Crandall — March 9, 2015—Michigan-based lighting manufacturer EarthTronics recently introduced a new 12-watt light-emitting diode (LED), LPD12/G24Q/830, designed to easily replace 18-watt G24q-2 base compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and increase energy savings and performance life.

Saving up to 33 percent more energy than the CFLs, the LED Plug In illuminates identically to the CFL it replaces, says EarthTronics. The lamp produces 1,100 lumens and works directly on existing instant-start electronic ballasts for easy “plug-and-play” installation. No rewiring is necessary.

The 12-watt Plug In is available in 3000K, 4000K, and 5000K colors with a color rendering index (CRI) greater than 80. The product design replicates the look of the lamp it is replacing and provides a similar light distribution. No modifications to the fixture are required.

The product is for use in office, hotel, restaurant, retail, and all commercial applications where plug-in CFL lamps are used. It can be used in any rotation or orientation in open or enclosed fixtures.

With its ability to provide instant on and full brightness without delay, the LED Plug In is well-suited for outdoor flood lights, post lamps, recessed downlights, surface mount ceiling fixtures, wall fixtures, vanity fixtures, and wall sconces.

The LED Plug In comes with a 10-year warranty when used six hours a day. Its 25,000-hour-rated life provides two to three times more service life than the CFL it replaces. The new Plug In is part of a family of lamps; available wattages are 10 watt (800 lumen) and 12 watt (1100 lumen), in both G24q and GX23 lamp-base types.
