Got bugs? Check the industries and US regions Ecolab now covers through acquiring three pest elimination services

by Brianna Crandall — December 11, 2017 — Ecolab, global provider of water, hygiene and energy technology and services, has expanded its US Pest Elimination business through the purchase of three strategically aligned US pest services businesses that provide specialized capabilities in food storage. These will broaden Ecolab’s pest elimination solutions for the food and beverage industry.

Bobby Mendez, executive vice president and president of Ecolab’s Global Services and Specialty business, remarked:

These acquisitions will complement our already strong offerings in the food and beverage markets. They bring a premium product and service approach similar to our own, and through the addition of their expertise in food storage treatment, we can further strengthen our pest services offering to food and beverage customers — and play a bigger role in protecting the safety of food and our customer’s operations across the food chain.

The acquired pest elimination companies are:

  • Food Protection Services LLC (FPS), which operates in the Pacific Northwest, Great Lakes, Midwest and the Mississippi Delta and offers food safety services such as pest management, fumigation, specialized cleaning and inspection in the grain, seed, milling, food processing, import/export, shipping and organic industries;
  • Royal Pest Solutions, Inc., a full-service pest control company operating in the Mid-Atlantic region from New Jersey to South Carolina that uses advanced methods and materials in IPM (integrated pest management) for commercial kitchens, retail facilities, restaurants, audited and non-audited facilities, offices and hospitality, and manufacturing plants; and
  • Research Fumigation Company, LLC, a fully integrated pest control and fumigation services and sales company serving customers in the Gulf Coast states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida that offers a comprehensive fumigant retention assessment service utilizing customized monitoring equipment and data generation to evaluate and recommend improvements to various facilities and commodity storage structures, including food protection services, and shipboard and wood fumigation services.

The transaction closed December 1. No further details were announced.
