by Brianna Crandall — November 16, 2015—The Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF) recently unveiled new super-hero characters to teach children how to ride elevators and escalators safely. They will serve as the mascots for the organization’s cornerstone safety program, Safe T Rider.
Safe T Boy and Safe T Girl were unveiled at the foundation’s fundraiser held at the National Association of Elevator Contractor’s (NAEC) annual convention in Boston in September. The new super-hero campaign was created to help children remember three basic principles — “hold on, lace up, and face forward” — before riding.
The new campaign includes a video and an activity sheet, and will soon offer an activity site designed to make children and parents aware of the safety measures they should take when riding elevators, moving walks, and escalators in order to eliminate preventable accidents.
EESF aims to educate the public on the safe and proper use of industry equipment. Its other programs include Rise Up Safe Rider, a program designed for university students, and A Safe Ride, designed to educate adults and seniors.
More information about the Safe T Rider Program is available on the EESF Web site.
