by Rebecca Walker — July 23, 2010—A report in the latest issue of EL Insights, delivered twice monthly from Environmental Leader, predicts the total U.S. green building market value will increase from $71.1 billion to $173.5 billion between 2010 and 2015.
In addition, commercial green building is projected to grow by 18.1 percent annually, according to new research in EL Insights, from $35.6 billion to $81.8 billion. EL Insights also reveals that green building has potential to create 2.5 million American jobs, which is about a 30 percent increase in jobs within the construction industry.
The report says companies can expect increased awareness of environmental issues such as the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to drive growth in commercial and residential green building. In addition, large corporations are expected to drive investment in innovative green building products and to lead adoption in the commercial sector.
