Environmental company Versar, Inc. joins USGBC

by Rebecca Walker — September 17, 2008—Versar, Inc., a company that specializes in developing environmentally impaired sites, announced that it has become a member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC), , the leader in green building and development.

USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) provides the design and performance standards for implementing energy conservation, global climate change, and occupant health.

Versar has also established its Energy and Climate unit in Germantown, Maryland, to focus on the expansion of its existing energy and climate practice. This new facility will give Versar the ability to expand its focus on energy, sustainability and related programs, the company says.

Versar, headquartered in Springfield, Virginia, is a publicly held international professional services firm supporting government and industry in national defense/homeland defense programs, environmental health and safety and infrastructure revitalization.
