by Brianna Crandall — April 14, 2021 — In December of 2020, interior and exterior signage provider EvacuationPlans.com awarded $5,000 to the Frontline Hero Fund, the most recent winner of its annual charity giveaway. EvacuationPlans.com recently learned that the Frontline Hero Fund donated the proceeds to the family of a late Seattle-based frontline worker, Doug Bwamu.
Bwamu was an anesthesia technologist, father, son and partner who tragically passed away from Covid-19 in late December 2020.
During his shift breaks at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Bwamu channeled his passion for art and music into creating music videos promoting handwashing, mask-wearing, and best social-distancing practices.
Bwamu leaves behind his mother, partner and two children. Frontline Hero Fund’s donation went towards funeral expenses and assistance for Bwamu’s children.

The volunteer-driven Frontline Hero Fund was founded in April 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Its founders saw the way frontline healthcare responders stepped up to put their lives on the line to take care of others and wanted to do something for those most seriously impacted. Frontline Hero Fund provides monetary grants to frontline healthcare workers and their families who were in the ICU or passed from Covid-19, and experience true economic need. To date, Frontline Hero Fund has raised nearly $200,000 and served 15 families.
