by Ann Withanee — November 28, 2011—The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is inaugurating a program called IFMA Alliance that partners the Association with other facilities management groups to strengthen the profession by working together. The first member in the new IFMA Alliance is Facility Management Nederland, the Dutch facilities management association.
As part of the new program, the Holland Chapter of IFMA will merge with FMN in January 2012 to form FMN, an IFMA Alliance Member. IFMA’s board of directors approved the new alliance and merger at the World Workplace 2011 Conference & Expo in Phoenix, Arizona, earlier this year.
Under the FMN name, the two groups will form one association with one body of members and board of directors that will represent the Dutch facilities management profession. At the same time, members of the new association will retain membership in IFMA, with more than 2,000 current FMN members joining IFMA’s membership ranks in the process.
The partnership creates a stronger, more complete facilities management association in the Netherlands that will add value to all members involved and strengthen the international position of Dutch facilities management, says IFMA.
“This cooperative effort between IFMA and FMN will strengthen ties between the two groups and increase the exchange of facilities management knowledge, best practices and educational resources worldwide,” said Tony Keane, CAE, president and CEO of IFMA. “Our strategic leadership plan IFMA’s balanced scorecard—calls for magnifying the importance of the facilities management professional, and the new IFMA Alliance program is a huge step in that direction. We are excited about this partnership and working to add other groups to the IFMA Alliance within the coming year.”
IFMA is the world’s largest and most widely recognized international association for professional facilities managers.
