by Brianna Crandall — September 24, 2018 — The US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) just announced the winners of the 2018 Federal Energy and Water Management Awards. FEMP sponsors the annual awards to recognize federal employees and organizations, along with their private sector partners, for developing and implementing outstanding projects and programs related to energy and water cost savings, optimized energy and water use, and the use of advanced and distributed energy technologies at federal facilities.
The strategies recognized run the gamut from preventive maintenance and solar photovoltaic power generation to investments in water-saving technologies such as rain water harvesting, wastewater reuse, and acoustic leak detection equipment.
In showcasing these best practices, FEMP intends to distinguish federal employees who developed and implemented exemplary, cost-effective projects and programs that cut energy waste and advance America’s progress toward energy independence, resilience, and security, while also advancing federal agency missions.
The Federal Energy and Water Management Awards honor outstanding achievements in:
- Energy and water efficiency and conservation
- Renewable energy implementation
- Fleet and transportation management
The Awards are presented in the following categories:
- Career Exceptional Service Awards
- Contracting Awards
- Laboratory/Data Center Awards
- Program Awards
- Project Awards
2018 Awards
The winners of the 2018 Awards are listed on the FEMP website along with a description of their strategies and achievements. The 2018 winners will be invited to Washington, DC, to receive their awards at a ceremony to be held on October 23, 2018.
