by Rebecca Walker — March 17, 2010—The Council of the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) announced that 15 insulation manufacturers and suppliers have signed on as “founding members” of the organization. This core group of companies represents the first time that the broad insulation industry is uniting to speak with one voice on Capitol Hill, they say.
“The insulation industry believes that the time is right for our manufacturers and suppliers to come together and educate policy-makers about insulation’s unique ability to create jobs quickly and conserve energy,” said NAIMA President and CEO Kate Offringa, who directs the Council’s day-to-day operations.
The founding members are Bayer MaterialScience, CertainTeed Insulation , Dow Building Solutions, Fiberlite Technologies, Inc., Huntsman, Icynene Inc., Johns Manville, Knauf Insulation, Nu-Wool, Pactiv Building Products, Roxul Inc., Thermafiber, Inc., US Borax, US GreenFiber, LLC, and ZeroLoft.
The Council is currently engaged in efforts to pass the proposed Home Star and Building Star programs — new legislative approaches that will stimulate manufacturing and job growth in existing industries by providing strong incentives for energy efficiency retrofits in residential and commercial buildings.
Membership in the Council of NAIMA is open to thermal and acoustical insulation manufacturers — regardless of insulation product type &mdash and their suppliers located in North America.
