Fike acquires axonX video technology for flame and smoke detection

by AF 0514 i3 — May 18, 2009—Fike, a leader in industrial and commercial safety solutions, has announced the acquisition of axonX LLC, a developer of video image flame and smoke detection technologies (also called Video Image Detection, or VID). Fike and axonX will continue to market the product line under the SigniFire brand.

SigniFire technology merges security camera architecture with image analysis, artificial intelligence and patented signal processing technologies to create an early warning fire detection system. The system detects smoke, flame and motion, providing a more comprehensive alert for protected spaces.

SigniFire technology is recognized by NFPA 72 as an authorized flame and smoke initiating device and the SigniFire IP camera is Factory Mutual (FM) approved. Used in applications where traditional smoke detection technologies may not be practical or efficient, axonX’s current installations include fossil fuel power plants, nuclear facilities, industrial facilities, cultural properties, warehouses and tunnels.

AxonX has been honored as a past recipient of the Wall Street Journal‘s

Technology Innovation Award and the Frost & Sullivan Technology Leadership Award.
