by Rebecca Walker — April 13, 2009 — The Middle Easts premier exhibition dedicated to facilities management, FM Expo, is set for its biggest show yet, reflecting the rapidly growing importance of the market. The 4th edition of FM Expo will have a large international presence, with exhibitors from the GCC, Europe, Africa and Asia. The 2009 show features the largest U.K. pavilion at FM Expo to date as well as representation for the first time from Spain, Malaysia and India.
Figures released by Middle East Strategy Advisors (MESA) show that the FM industry in the UAE alone is potentially worth $704 billion, with the markets in Saudi Arabia and Qatar worth $96 billion and $92 billion respectively. Green building codes, strata laws and energy management have all become part of the everyday vocabulary for property and facilities management professionals.
“Property developers across the region are now consulting facilities management companies in the early stages of developments which could save millions of dollars in the long term,” said Louisa Theobald, Group Exhibitions Director of Streamline Marketing Group, organisers of FM Expo, the Middle East’s leading facilities management event.
“According to some estimates, the initial development cost of a facility represents only 20percent of the total spent across the lifetime of a building, with facilities management and maintenance making up the remaining 80percent. If property values do fall, developers and investors will have to maximise savings on management, maintenance and energy,” she added.
FM Expo which will take place from 24-26 May 2009 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre is the leading event in the Middle East dedicated to property and facilities management. FMLink is the Official Online Publication of the show.
Running in parallel with the exhibition is the Property & Facilities Management Conference. A line-up of local, regional and international industry experts will identify, present and address current and future trends as well as debate the latest industry issues.
FM exhibitors include companies from property management, energy management, environment, maintenance, IT, health and safety, and security in the Middle East, Europe and worldwide.
