FM:Systems is donating to IFMA Foundation for FM research

by Rebecca Walker — November 15, 2010—FM:Systems, a leading provider of integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) and computer-aided facility management (CAFM) software, announced that a percentage of sales from the recently released FM:Interact Sustainability Module will be donated to the IFMA Foundation to support the foundation’s research efforts. The IFMA Foundation underwrites research projects, funds education programs and sponsors scholarships to benefit facility management.

In addition, FM:Systems has partnered with the IFMA Foundation’s Knowledge Management Committee to release the Green Building Rating Systems Guide. Part of a sustainability “how to” series by the foundation, this research initiative summarizes the various building rating systems and the costs involved with each, and gives insights from facility management experts about how and why a particular certification was achieved for a specific building. The goal of the guide is to enable the reader to make educated decisions about sustainability initiatives for their organization. A download is available online.

The FM:Interact Sustainability Module helps facilities and real estate professionals bring environmental and financial impacts into balance. From a standard Web browser, users can manage critical information on energy performance, building certifications and sustainability projects like energy retrofits. The Sustainability Module enables users to:

  • Analyze building environmental impacts (energy, water, greenhouse gas emissions, recycling, waste and others);
  • Integrate with EPA’s Automated Benchmarking System to calculate a building’s ENERGY STAR ratings, carbon footprint and more;
  • Forecast sustainability projects’ financial impacts (net present value, internal rate of return, ROI, payback period) and environmental impacts;
  • Manage building assessments and certifications using rating systems like Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Green Globes, or BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM); and
  • Engage occupants and management with enterprise access to sustainability information and dashboards.

The FM:Interact Sustainability Module is part of the FM:Interact Workplace Management Suite of products. For more information, see the FM:Systems Web site as well as the company’s ad on FMLink.
