by Ann Withanee — October 21, 2011—Real estate and facilities professionals can now access facilities information from Apple iPhones and iPads, enabling greater flexibility and mobility in how they manage their portfolios, in the field or at their desks. FM:Systems, a global provider of integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) and computer-aided facility management (CAFM) software, is launching the browser-based FM:Mobile to provide mobile access for its FM:Interact Workplace Management Suite.
Mobile access is needed as real estate and facilities professionals spend most of their working hours walking the floors, grounds and parking lots of the buildings they oversee, notes FM:Systems. Entering maintenance requests, recording asset serial numbers, and scheduling moves are just a few of the tasks performed every day that are made easier with support for mobile platforms on FM:Interact. FM:Mobile supported devices include the Apple iPad, Apple iPad 2 and the Apple iPhone.
“We manage a portfolio that spans dozens of buildings and millions of square feet, and many times that means I need to be in the field not in my office,” says Charles Rechtsteiner, regional facilities manager, Autodesk. “I need to be able to do my job no matter where I am. For me, mobile access is essential.”
FM:Mobile will be demonstrated at the IFMA World Workplace 2011 Conference and Expo October 26-28 in Phoenix, Arizona.
