by Shane Henson — March 19, 2012—The Formica Group, global designer, manufacturer and distributer of innovative surfacing products for commercial and residential applications, recently released the newest addition to its materials portfolio with VIVIX exterior façade panels.
According to the company, the panels were created to answer the increase in demand for decorative, lightweight and robust rainscreen cladding within the U.K. market and should be installed as a ventilated façade. Ventilated façade construction manages moisture, acting as a defense against water penetration and aiding in preventing adverse effects of moisture on building finishes and structural components. The continuous circulation of air in the cavity between the inner structure and the outer cladding skin helps moisture to evaporate and keeps the building dry and well insulated, explains the company.
VIVIX panels can complement or add interest to office buildings, public, cultural and sports facilities, transportation centers, industrial buildings, educational facilities, residential developments and more. VIVIX can also be used for exterior applications such as balconies, soffits, decorative screening and fencing or to accentuate the entrance way of a building.
VIVIX solid phenolic, engineered exterior façade panels have a decorative surface on both sides. Robust and resilient, these homogeneous panels are manufactured using tough thermosetting resins reinforced with cellulose fiber for added strength and durability, says the Formica Group.
VIVIX panels incorporate Formica Group’s commitment to sustainable principles and practices. Manufactured in the United Kingdom to ISO 9001 standards, VIVIX panels cause minimal environmental impact as determined by Formica Group’s Life Cycle Assessment. All of Formica Group’s European manufacturing sites and distribution centers have achieved the internationally recognized Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certification from leading accreditation body BM TRADA. This ensures that materials used in the production of Formica High Pressure Laminate and wood-based bonded items are from sustainably managed sources, says the company.
