by Brianna Crandall — August 20, 2012—Four major universities have selected AssetWorks’ AiM integrated workplace management solutions in recent weeks, according to the company, joining a growing list of over 100 major institutions of higher education that rely on AssetWorks’ Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) to optimize resources and operational efficiency and drive greater transparency campus-wide.
AssetWorks announced that Vanderbilt University, the University of Alberta and Eastern Carolina University have each selected AiM Space & Facilities Management to improve workplace efficiency, boost productivity and service levels, reduce organizational churn, improve maintenance practices, and efficiently service assets and equipment.
AiM Space & Facilities Management enables facilities managers and space planners to collaborate and make informed decisions regarding future growth and change within their organization, including complex decisions concerning organizational occupancy and indirect cost recovery. Key features of AiM Space & Facilities Planning include:
- CAD Integration—Real-time integration with AutoCAD files leveraging the AutoCAD 2000-series engine
- CAD Viewer & Query Tool—Provides access to space information and CAD drawings, even if users do not have AutoCAD installed locally
- Space Planning—Enables users to create complex “what if” planning scenarios, analyze space utilization options, and plan multiple move scenarios—all fully integrated with AiM’s work management capabilities
- Space Survey—Organizations relying on grant funding can leverage AiM to record usage information, calculate percentage splits of general and grant/contract-related use, and subdivide and track percentage splits and dates of occupancy to accommodate multiple funding sources
- Space Inventory Management—Enables users to build a comprehensive property database, capture critical building information, maintain building documentation, and define physical work sites; both BOMA and IFMA standards are supported
- CAD Viewer & Query Tool—Provides access to space information and CAD drawings, even if users do not have AutoCAD installed locally
AssetWorks also announced that the Medical University of South Carolina has contracted with AssetWorks to deploy its AiM Fixed Assets Software (FAS) to manage campus-wide facilities and real estate, and track and depreciate fixed assets among the established institution’s medical center and six colleges.
The university selected AiM to manage operations and maintenance and space and facilities planning for 160 buildings totaling 5.5 million square feet in support of 2,500 faculty and staff and over 12,000 students. The university has also selected AssetWorks’ powerful new lightweight reporting tool, AiM IQ, as well as AiM iDesk for iOS to support mobile entry of facilities data.
With AiM FAS, the university can easily add new fixed assets; transfer assets among departments, funds, or locations; and partially or fully dispose of assets. AiM FAS users can also track and depreciate a fixed asset inventory based on user-defined asset classes and produce GASB 34/35- and GAAP-compliant reports. Using the mobile inventory solution, AssetMobile, the university can perform asset reconciliations and streamline re-inventory workflow processes.
