Gaiasoft GDC technology platform helps data centers get green

by jbs022509 f3 — March 2, 2009—UK-based Gaiasoft International has announced the availability of its GDC By Gaiasoft technology platform, designed to help data centers become more environmentally friendly.

The data center’s greening process will be supported through the Green Data Centers Project, a dedicated service of Well Connected Enterprises, Gaiasoft’s support partner in the US. Together, these companies provide a step-by-step process that gets a data center’s greening process started quickly and effectively.

The GDC By Gaiasoft platform combines project management and collaboration capabilities within a framework designed specifically to support a data center’s transition to positive environmental practices. The ready-to-go framework aligns data center operations around green objectives, from the highest organizational goal to the most specific departmental task.

The starting framework is easily customized to the unique situation of each data center. It breaks operations into key areas of asset use and energy efficiency, by departments such as IT, facilities, and others. It tracks operational, financial, and environment impacts of each item considered as part of a greening project. It pairs overall goals with specific areas and owners to enable support and accountability at every part of the program. This approach provides easily managed task clarity, progress tracking, and accountability for every participant, at all times, says Gaiasoft.

The platform’s collaboration capabilities enable performance data and other information (such as plans, ideas, best practices, resources, and project work ) to be reviewed, presented, and shared with others at any level—local to global.
