by Brianna Crandall — September 9, 2013—Facilities services provider GCA Education Services, a division of GCA Services Group, was recently awarded Virginia State University’s (VSU) facilities services contract for three years, commencing January 1, 2014. GCA will provide VSU with enhanced facilities services, including custodial and plant operations and management (POM) services for the University’s 106 buildings, which amass nearly 2.2 million square feet of space—as well as grounds and athletic field management services.
After completing an extensive Request for Proposal (RFP) process in which numerous facilities services providers were considered, VSU says it selected GCA based on its outstanding record of service to over 70 higher education institutions throughout the United States.
“Virginia State University is very pleased to have selected GCA Education Services as its partner for expanded facilities maintenance,” said David Meadows, Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer for VSU. “We have received many positive testimonials from their current education partners in Virginia and throughout the United States and were impressed with their ability to recognize and commit to our vision for VSU, and our desire to create a best-in-class University experience for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. We believe GCA will contribute to our University’s success and transition the current program in a thoughtful, professional manner for current staff, facilities, and our VSU community. We look forward to working with GCA to plan these expanded services for our campus community,” he added.
“We are honored to be selected as Virginia State University’s facility services provider,” said Bob Norton, Chairman, CEO, and President of GCA Services Group. “We look forward to serving the students and faculty members of this great institution, by providing our trademark quality and achieving the necessary operational efficiencies,” he added.
