by Shane Henson — August 31, 2013—Pacific Cascade Corporation, provider of GreenDrop Recycling Stations, announced that Hillsboro Ballpark, the home of the Hillsboro Hops baseball team, has become the latest venue to use its products as part of a recycling effort.
Hillsboro Ballpark is located within the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex, which is owned and operated by Oregon’s City of Hillsboro Parks and Recreation Department. Knowing that a mound of waste is produced before and after each game, the complex’s management sought products to make recycling faster and easier for fans.
GreenDrop Recycling Stations were seen as an excellent choice as they visually guide users to properly dispose of recyclable items, effectively reducing a facility’s environmental footprint while minimizing expenses.
“Ten stations have been deployed at Hillsboro Ballpark, and this has been an exciting project for our Pacific Cascade team,” said Lyle Peters, director of sales for the GreenDrop Stations. “We developed custom instructional labels depicting specific items in use. Detailed labels guide guests to quickly and accurately dispose of waste within specific waste streams at one orderly stop.”
The GreenDrop Recycling Station was designed through multiyear efforts of the Portland Trail Blazers head office and the Rose Garden Arena, says Pacific Cascade Corporation. The arena’s landfill diversion rate increased from 38 percent in 2007 to 90 percent in 2012, in part by replacing old-style garbage cans with GreenDrop Recycling Stations. Since their launch at Rose Garden Arena, GreenDrop Recycling Stations have remained a proven asset when investing in facilities operations and public perception, the company says.
