GreenGen to upgrade efficiency at two federal buildings in Indiana

by Brianna Crandall — January 4, 2016—The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded Green Generation Solutions (GreenGen) a contract valued at $182,575 to provide for design and implementation of energy conservation measures and ongoing energy management services at the Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Hammond, Indiana.

Based in the Washington, DC, region, GreenGen is a company experienced in engineering and implementing energy efficiency plans in commercial properties.

Using a comprehensive Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) from the Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP), the base cost of the project is determined by the energy savings guaranteed by GreenGen, allowing for the implementation of energy conservation measures.

The scope of the project includes the design and installation of high-efficiency light-emitting diode (LED) lighting upgrades to the interior and exterior lighting systems to reduce energy consumption.

The projected final energy use and energy cost for the project will be 27,552 kWh and $1,959, for a total energy savings of 29,274 kWh and $2,081 of energy cost savings. These reductions will be accomplished by the installation of over 330 solid-state LED technology fixtures.

GreenGen will also report final project data to FEMP, including implemented energy conservation measures, total project investment, contract price, contract term, award date, completion date, guaranteed cost savings, and total energy savings.
