by Rebecca Walker — December 24, 2008—Joining the ranks of more than 20 CertainTeed Insulation products to be certified, CertainTeed Corp.’s CertaSpray closed-cell foam insulation has achieved GreenGuard Indoor Air Quality and Children & Schools certification.
Facilitated by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, both certification programs require products to meet stringent standards in regard to chemical and particle emissions that can compromise healthy indoor air quality.
Introduced earlier this year, CertaSpray is a polyurethane foam that is sprayed into a building cavity and quickly expands to fill every opening that can potentially leak air. By reducing air leakage, CertaSpray minimizes hot and cold spots and provides outstanding comfort and indoor air quality by impeding the penetration of moisture and outdoor allergens. The foam results in a hard, rigid consistency that provides superior insulating power and adds structural integrity to walls.
CertaSpray can be used in whole house and building applications or in combination with fiber glass insulation and is an ideal solution for hard-to-reach areas, such as cathedral ceilings, knee walls and roof decks, says the company. The product is only installed by CertainTeed qualified contractors in order to achieve the most rigorous quality standards.
CertainTeed offers a comprehensive line of insulation products, including time-tested and trusted fiberglass insulation batts and rolls, polyurethane spray foam, innovative vapor retarder technology, as well as highly regarded HVAC products. For more information, see the Web site.
