Guardian Industries and Soladigm collaborate to offer energy-saving architectural glass

by Shane Henson — May 23, 2012—Guardian Industries, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of glass products, and Soladigm, a California-based manufacturer of highly energy-efficient dynamic glass for buildings, recently announced they are working together to market and sell Soladigm Dynamic Glass in the commercial buildings sector.

Soladigm’s Dynamic Glass can change its tint from clear to dark on demand and provide unprecedented control over the amount of light and heat that enters a building, says Guardian Industries. This dynamic control results in 25 percent reduction in HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) energy consumption and 30 percent reduction in peak load. Additionally, because they also control glare, windows that use Soladigm Dynamic Glass do not need blinds, shades or other window treatments, thus providing unobstructed views to the occupants.

Guardian will incorporate Soladigm’s Dynamic Glass product into its SunGuard advanced architectural glass portfolio of solutions with the introduction of a SunGuard EC product line. Guardian SunGuard will also integrate the new product into its Build with Light marketing program, an initiative that connects architects, glaziers and select fabricators with its product line.
