by Shane Henson — August 15, 2012—Gunlocke, a manufacturer of fine wood furniture, including for sophisticated office environments, recently released a swivel chair that combines innovative continual comfort with true aesthetics and common-sense functionality. The result, says Gunlocke, is an office seating solution that’s at home in any area of a workplace, from private offices to open-plan layouts to conference rooms and touch-down areas and even the reception desk.
Named “Edition,” the chair’s technology-driven comfort incorporates innovative inner construction as its cornerstone. A contoured steel frame supports flexible, high-performance mesh used in the seat and seatback. This innovative, supportive mesh moves in only one direction without sagging, while delivering robust-yet-comfortable suspension. Both of these components are then covered in a thick layer of molded foam, which can be topped off with any of Gunlocke’s stylish upholstery options—fabric, vinyl or leather—for both mid- and high-back models.
This design provides self-adjusting comfort not only in the seat but also the seat back, eliminating the need for mechanical lumbar adjustments. Additionally because the entire inner design, including the seat, is flexible, less cushioning materials are needed, further contributing Edition’s overall flexibility and lightweight construction, says Gunlocke.
Edition is also built within ergonomic guidelines for work seating, and fits up to the 95th percentile, with adjustable seat depth up to 2½ inches in six evenly spaced positions. The new swivel chair’s synchronized control (2.3 to 1) features five tilt-lock positions, while its side-activated tension control delivers telescoping and rotary adjustment.
For private office spaces and high-end conference rooms, Edition’s polished aluminum-cast, fixed-arm option adds extra distinction, adds Gunlocke. Buyers can choose plastic, adjustable arms for task seating applications. Both of Edition’s armed options feature a light urethane cap on the armrest to provide added durability. Additionally, Gunlocke also offers an armless version of its new Edition chairs, ideal for use around tables in touchdown areas and collaborative spaces.
