by Brianna Crandall — August 12, 2016 — The Gunlocke Company, a designer and manufacturer of high-quality private office and collaborative contract furniture since 1902, has just introduced its new Saranac collection of rustic, yet modern, tables and companion benches and credenzas. Designed by IDa Design, led by principal Mitch Bakker, Saranac brings the warmth of wood to indoor spaces.
With Saranac, Gunlocke takes influences from nature to harmoniously merge traditional and relaxed design. Reflecting how minimalistic support structures, such as trestles and bridges, work in tandem with nature, this all-wood table allows Gunlocke’s skilled craftsman to unlock their creative talents and knowledge of wood furniture design and construction.
The collection’s centerpiece features elegantly angled branch legs that add a touch of rustic sensibility and timeless design to any workplace. Its simplicity makes it ideal for both casual meeting and gathering spaces along with touchdown zones and conference rooms, and it works equally well as a desk in private offices.
Saranac’s tabletop is available in a plank layup in a variety of veneer finishes that give the feel of reclaimed wood. The underside provides a well-considered routed finger channel to enhance the user’s tactile experience as they pull up to the table. They are available in square, round and rectangular tops with a variety of veneers. Solid wood legs and aprons come in cherry, maple, oak or ash in multiple sizes.
Saranac tables feature technology ports, exposed power and perimeter power.
Also available to complement the new Saranac table is a unique line of wood benches with the same leg design, a first for the company. An optional low-profile pad is available in any Gunlocke fabric. The standard and buffet-height wood credenzas complement the collection and are offered with wood, glass or solid-surface tops.
