by Brianna Crandall — June 9, 2014—The Hospitality Design Exposition and Conference (HD Expo), which marked a 15 percent jump in attendance at its May show in Las Vegas, has announced the winners for the show-sponsored Radical Innovation in Hospitality Awards from a group of nearly 100 entrants, as well as winners in 19 categories for the 18th annual International Interior Design Association (IIDA)/HD Product Design Competition. The award winners are listed below.
HD/John Hardy Group 8th Annual Radical Innovation in Hospitality Awards
- Winner: Green Air Hotel, a concept presented by Lip Chiong of Studio Twist, China
- Runner up: Hotel 2020, a concept by Natasha Bajc of Code Design Studio Concept
- Student winner: Sky Lofts on the Boardwalk, a concept by Evelyn Choy and Evelyn Hartojo of the University of Melbourne
IIDA/HD Product Design Competition
- Eric Engstrom Best of Competition Award: Architectural Systems for Cast Stone Dimensional Panels
“The intent of IIDA/HD Product Design Competition is to ensure the highest standards of innovation, utility and aesthetic development in the products found here at the HD Expo each year,” says IIDA executive vice president and CEO Cheryl S. Durst. “This year’s winning products showcase a vitality and dynamism that brilliantly elevates the specialty field of hospitality design as well as the profession.”
