January 18, 2008—The International Collection from Herman Miller, Inc., brings a touch of European flair to the company’s North American product portfolio, the company said.

Fashioned with four contemporary seating designs from leading Italian manufacturers, the International Collection adds comfort and playfulness to spaces designed for gathering or collaboration.

Introduced in 2006 as the Italia Collection to Herman Miller’s international dealers, the designs now are accessible throughout Herman Miller’s worldwide distribution channel.

The four products chosen for the collection represent items most favored by Herman Miller’s international dealer community. These are:

  • The Mr. Nilsson sofa by Milan’s Duilio Forte, which embodies classic design stemming from the 1960’s. Built on a solid wood frame, the sofa provides a level of comfort that matches its distinctive appearance.
  • The Liza, an enduring adaptation of the bench’s recognizable form. Created by Compagnia Italiana Progetto, a Milan-based design firm managed by award-winning designer Angelo Cortesi, this modern yet classic seating complements its surroundings in public spaces, whether indoors or outdoors.
  • The colorful pieces of Tato, Tatone, Tatino brighten any room or space. A result of the collaboration between designers Denis Santachiara and Enrico Baleri, Tato, Tatone and Tatino may be used alone or in combination. A flexible seat top and stabilizing base deliver surprising comfort. Tato, Tatone, and Tatino have removable covers available in a range of colors.
  • Capri is a luxurious seating solution suitable for casual or formal settings. Swiss designer Hannes Wettstein incorporated a flexible, reclining back that gives Capri an additional measure of comfort. Its die -cast aluminum feet and concealed casters provide the function needed for contract use.
