Honolulu tops CBRE/Whitestone list of highest facility operations costs in North America

by Brianna Crandall — December 8, 2014—Global property advisor CBRE Group and Whitestone Research just released research exploring the costs of running a typical office building anywhere in North America. The highest facility operations costs for owners and managers were determined to be in Honolulu at $17.78 per square foot. The facilities costs included custodial, energy, grounds, maintenance and repair, management, pest control, refuse, road clearance, telecommunications, and water and sewer.

The Top 10 cities are:

  1. Honolulu, HI: $17.78
  2. Hilo, HI: $17.33
  3. New York, NY: $16.28
  4. Yonkers, NY: $15.89
  5. San Francisco, CA: $15.76
  6. Boston, MA: $14.73
  7. Fairbanks, AK: $14.13
  8. Juneau, AK: $14.09
  9. New Haven, CT: $14.03
  10. Lowell, MA: $13.99
