by Rebecca Walker — NEW YORK, March 25, 2009 Humanscale’s Diffrient Work Light II has won a prestigious 2009 iF product design award in the Lighting category, heralded for its innovation, performance and green qualities, the company announced.
Superior design and materials selection, workmanship, ergonomic features, safety and brand value were also factors in its selection.
The versatile, precision-designed and engineered task light was among 2,808 products from 39 different countries entered into the iF competition, which honors outstanding product design in 16 categories.
The Diffrient Work Light IIwhich boasts sleek good looks, a long reach, one-touch positioning and a perfect internal counterbalancewill be featured in the 2009 iF design exhibition, which runs from March to August in Germany. The energy-saving task light will also be included in iF’s product yearbook and online exhibition.
The eco-friendly Diffrient Work Light II is constructed primarily of 100% recycled aluminum, contains 77% LEED recycled content, and can help a project achieve LEED credits in numerous categories. The light is specifically designed to accommodate the latest-generation compact fluorescent bulbs, which consume 75% less energy and last up to 10 times longer than comparable incandescent bulbs. And when used as part of a dual-lighting scheme, the Diffrient Work Light II can contribute to energy savings of more than 50%.
