by Jbs012609 d5 — January 28, 2009—HydroPoint Data Systems Inc., provider of the WeatherTRAK Smart Water Management solution, recently announced that Regency Centers, a national owner, operator, and developer of grocery-anchored and community shopping centers, has deployed WeatherTRAK at 30 of its shopping centers as part of the company’s “greengenuity” initiative, which includes outdoor water conservation.
HydroPoint’s WeatherTRAK Smart Water Management technology will be initially deployed at 30 of Regency’s existing shopping centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. By installing WeatherTRAK, Regency anticipates saving 42 million gallons of water yearly.
WeatherTRAK utilizes pinpoint, microclimate weather data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to automatically schedule irrigation based on individual landscape needs and local weather conditions. This dynamic adjustment of water output eliminates the need to manually adjust irrigation systems while reducing water use by up to 59 percent and water runoff by 71 percent, meaning landscapes attain their full water conservation potential, says HydroPoint. The dynamic nature of this technology is ideal for corporations like Regency Centers with properties in distinct regions of the country, each with its unique microclimate, which WeatherTRAK takes into account.
