ICC seminars to explain changes in 2012 construction I-Codes

by Brianna Crandall — April 11, 2011—The International Code Council is offering seminars to update construction industry-related professionals on the new International Codes (I-Codes), which the organization revises every three years to improve safety and allow for new products and technologies. ICC notes that the I-Codes, adopted at least in part by every U.S. state and several nations around the world, help reduce costs and facilitate new products and technologies.

ICC’s seminars to address 2012 I-Code changes are customized to meet the needs of code officials, architects, engineers, contractors and builders. The 2012 Codes Update Training Seminars introduce construction industry professionals to major changes in the 2012 I-Codes compared to the 2009 editions.

The seminars address changes to the 2012 editions of the:

  • International Building Code (IBC)
  • International Residential Code (IRC)
  • International Fire Code (IFC)
  • International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
  • International Plumbing Code (IPC)
  • International Mechanical Code (IMC)
  • International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC)
  • International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC)
  • International Existing Building Code (IEBC)

Changes are clearly identified in course material handouts. Expert instructors discuss the reasoning for each modification and present knowledge review questions to ensure participants have a comprehensive understanding of the code changes. The 2012 I-Codes are expected to be available in May 2011.
